12 February Happenings

8:30 a.m.: Men’s Fraternity.
9:00 a.m.: Women’s Esther Bible Study.
10:15 a.m.: Sunday Worship Service.
11:45 a.m.: Parent-Youth Meeting.

At 8:30 a.m., the Men’s Fraternity will meet on the 1st floor. If you can’t make it on Sunday, remember to join in on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the English Sanctuary.

At 9:00 a.m., the Women’s Esther Bible Study will also meet on the 1st floor next to the Men’s Fraternity meeting.

SCBC invites all to join with us at 10:15 a.m. for our Sunday Worship Service in the English Sanctuary.

Finally, after our Sunday Worship Service (at approximately 11:45 a.m.) we will have a Parent-Youth Meeting. Steve will talk with us about the directon of the youth ministry, upcoming events, and will take your questions regarding the church’s youth programs.

8 a.m.: Men’s Prayer Breakfast.
6 p.m.: Couple’s Banquet.

The monthly Men’s Prayer Breakfast will be this Saturday morning at 8 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall cafeteria. Riley Edwards will be sharing his tesimony. Please join us for encouragement in the Lord as we seek His face in prayer.

Later Saturday evening SCBC will hold the Couple’s Banquet beginning at 6 p.m. at the Songtan International Community Center. The cost for the banquest is 50,000 won per couple and child care will be provided. Please contact George to sign up.

Kid’s Club

Kid’s Club is starting back up beginning 5 February! This will be a time of worship, teaching, singing, and crafts for K-5th graders DURING our regular worship service. We need adult volunteers to help in this! Please contact Michelle to get involved.

Special Activities on 29 January 2012

There are many things going on at SCBC on Sunday, 29 January 2012:

- Beginning at 8:30 a.m., the Men’s Fraternity will have its first meeting and will on the 1st Floor of the English building. It will be led by Eric Zanger. The Men’s Fraternity explores Biblical masculinity and gives an opportunity for men to form authentic relationships and accountability. You can choose to either attend the Sunday or Wednesday session which begins that same week.

- A Women’s Bible Study will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be on the 1st floor of the building. It will focus on the life of Esther from the Bible. All ladies are invited. Contact Gail for more information.

- A special Concert of Prayer will be held in the English Sanctuary at 3:30 p.m. All are invited to join in seeking God’s face in prayer as a church family.

Moms’ Ministry Meeting

The Mom’s Ministry will be meeting this thursday, 19 Jan 2012, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the English Library (3rd floor). We’re continuing our study of the book, Bible Moms. We’ll learn from other mothers in the Bible. Any mom is welcome to join us! Contact Gail for more information.

Nursery Need Volunteers

The Nursery (0-3 year olds) is growing and need volunteers. With the new men’s and women’s Sunday School classes starting this month, the need has now expanded to the 9 a.m. hour as well. You can hlep regularly or rotationally. If you’d like to minister to our children and their parents in this way, please contact Sarah.

New Year’s Eve Service

This Saturday, there will be a special combined Korean-English New Year’s Eve Service. A special prayer time will begin at 10 p.m. and a worship service will begin at 11:30 p.m. The service will be in the Korean sanctuary. English translation receivers will be available upon request. Upcoming Events for the Youth

There will be a Children’s Lock-In at the church on 21 December from 5 p.m. until 8:30 a.m. the next morning. This is for kids from 4-6th grades.

A Children’s Christmas Party will be held on 23 December (Friday) at the Church. This is for all kids from pre-school to 3rd grade. Please contact Michelle for more information.

Christmas Angel Tree Sign-up

The Christmas Angel Tree Sign-up is continuing! You have an opportunity to sign up to provide a local orphan a gift for Christmas that will be delivered to him/her. We will be providing this for the kids at Chunhae Children’s Home this year. Gifts need to be wrapped and brought back to the church by December 18. Contact Helen if you would like more information.

Kimchi for the Needy

SCBC is reaching out to the community by making kimchi for the needy. You can participate by coming out on November 28th or 29th (or both days if you can) to help make kimchi. The kimchi making will begin at 9 a.m. on both days in front of the Korean Sanctuary building.

Angel Tree Outreach

– The 57th Women’s English Speaking Tres Dias (WESTD) will be held from 17-20 Nov 11.
– The Men’s Tres Dias (MESTD) will be held from 1-4 Dec 11.
– The Teen’s Vida Nueva will be held from 16-18 Dec 11.

Special Worship Service and Luncheon

On 16 Oct 11, everyone is encouraged to invite family and friends to the church for a special worship service and luncheon. You are especially requested to focus on bringing unbelievers to church so they can hear the Gospel of Christ proclaimed, witness the worship of our glorious God, and experience the warmth of God’s love from the saints.

Immediately following the worship service, the Korean ladies’ fellowship will host the luncheon. While the ladies will prepare the main dishes, we will need people to bring side dishes and drinks. Please contact George to sign up to bring a side dish or drinks.

Finally, please let us know how many people you plan to bring so we can prepare gifts for our special guests and the ladies fellowship can adequately plan the food needed for the lucheon.

A Ministry for Mothers is beginning on 6 Oct 11. The “moms” group’s goal is to glorify God by providing a time for encouragement and growth as mothers. The Ministry for Mothers will be held at the church on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month at 10 a.m. This is open to moms of all ages, and childcare will be provided. Korean-American Friendship Festival

The Korean-American Friendship Festival will be held from 24-25 Sep 11. Songtan Central Baptist Church (SCBC) will be spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ by evangelizing, passing out informational fliers and offering free drinks. Other SCBC activities will include a barbecue fund-raiser for our missions and youth ministry. The Osan Air Force Base Gospel Service Choir will also be ministering to the community with musical praise at the festival on Saturday, 24 Sep 11, from 4-6 p.m. at the Songtan International Community Center. This event is free and open to the public.

We will be leaving Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm and will return Monday around 5 pm. The church will using chartered buses. Children 5 and under are free. Ages 6 and up are 25,000 won each. 4th of July Cookout

SCBC will be having a 4th of July cookout (Monday, July 4th). The cookout will be held at 4 pm on base at the Osan Pavilions. There will be time to go to the base’s Liberty Fest as well for their activities & fireworks (9 pm). There is a $5 fee/person for food, but it is waived if you bring a dish of your own to be shared. People who do not have military IDs will be signed on, but must stay with the person who signs you on. For more info, please contact Steve at 010-9281-8306.

Men’s Retreat

A Men’s Retreat will be held later this month from May 29-30. It will be held 2 hours away at Osesan Natural Forest and is 15,000 won/person. Men can have the option of sleeping in tents or cabins and will have various activities to enjoy like fishing or hiking. SCBC’s Student Summer Camp

SCBC’s student (7-12 grades) summer camp is June 19th-24th. Cost is 300,000 won (won only) per student. The full cost is due on June 7th. After June 7th, the cost goes up to 325,000 won.
